About the book Written for the engineer on the go, The Process Engineer's Pocket Handbook is a complete source of handy, brief approximation methods for a wide range of design situations. Presented in a concise, no-nonsense format, the information in this compact handbook provides "how to" techniques of process design rather than theory. Much of the data is based on experience developed over the years by several successful process designers and operating managers. For this reason, information on such things as tank blending, weighted spray, flow component sizing, and relief valve sizing cannot be found elsewhere. The extremely wide range of topics covered by The Process Engineer's Pocket Handbook, such as fluid flow, absorption, heat transfer, and distillation, makes it a necessary tool for anyone involved in plant design or operation. Troubleshooting engineers, managers doing order of magnitude work, planners doing feasibility work, and supervisors checking the work of others will... Tovább

Troubleshooting engineers, managers doing order of magnitude work, planners doing feasibility work, and supervisors checking the work of others will find this handbook especially valuable. About the author Carl R. Branan received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has approximately twenty years of experience in process design and troubleshooting in oil, chemicals, fibers, polymers, and coal. He has held positions of various responsibilities including plant engineer, process engineer, and project engineer. He has served on and headed numerous projects and studies in the chemical and petrochemical industries. Mr. Branan has worked for El Paso Products Company, Amoco Oil Company, was a member of the Burnham Gasification Team, and has been on loan to Rexene and the Beaunit Corporation. He is presently employed by El Paso Natural Gas Company, where he is a senior process engineer and an instructor in the Sonatrach Training Program. Mr. Branan is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of Fractionation Research Incorporated, a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and is the co-author of "Status of Burnham Coal Gasification Project."
