A HISTORY OF MODERN CRITICISM, 1750-1950 rené wellek Sterling Professor of Comparative Literature, Yale University Since Saintsbury's History of Criticism (1900-03) there has been no comprehensive account of modern literary criticism. Professor Wellek's encyclopedic work, which traces the sources of almost all viewpoints of modern criticism, is based on wide research and a masterly command of the great critical writings and the literature about them. Each volume contains annotated bibliographies, full documentation, and index. Volume 1 The Later Eighteenth Century $8.50 Volume 2 The Romantic Age $10.00 Volume 3 The Age of Transition $8.50 Volume 4 The Later Nineteenth Century... Tovább

"I can think of no one better quahfied than Mr. Wellek for the task of writing the history of modern European criticism . . . there can be no doubt of the importance of this work. The combination of scholarly and critical apparatus is formidable. There is no <?ther history of criticism like it, none which combines its scope with its sénse of contemporary relevance."-Dávid Daiches, Saturday Review.. Vissza
