Veterán reporter Harrison E. Salisbury began his newspaper career while still in college. While attending the University of Minnesota, he worked nights as a reporter and rewrite man for the United Press in St. Paul. and edited the college paper as well. After graduation, he started on the old Minneapolis Journal as a $i5-a-week cub reporter, subsequently (in 1930) joining the United Press. Mr. Salisbury covered stories Harrison E. In 1943 he was made London manager and director of European coverage for the U.P. He became head of the Moscow Bureau in 1944, spending eight raonths there. An expansion of the series in book form, American in Russia, was published by Harper & Brothers in 1955- At present Mr. Salisbury is a member of the city staff of the New York Times.
