Paul Griffiths, born in 1947, graduated from Lincoln College, Oxford. He has worked since 1971 as a freelance writer and music critic and is now the ChiefMusic Critic for The Times. His books include Modem Music: A Concise History (in the World of Art), A Guide to Electronic Music and The String Quartet, all published by Thames and Hudson.
