The Yellow Robe Monster tells of the pilgrims' encounters with the fiendish Lady White Bone, and of what happens after Monkey is sent back to the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit again. The Tang Priest soon falls into the clutches of the Yellow Robe JVfonster, who is too powerful for Pig and Friar Sand. So how can the Tang Priest be saved? The story is told in this book, which is illustrated with 74 coloured pictures.

The next volume in the series, Lotus Flower Cave, tells of the dangers the pilgrims face at the hands of the demon kings Gold Horn and Silver Horn of the Lotus Flower Cave, who have three treasures of magic power: a gourd and a vase that can swallow people up, and a fan that can create fires.
