As I began work on this book about my life so far, someone
asked me, Voyou have any regrets?' I replied, 'No, none at
all. I just wish I hadn't made so many mistakes.'
When he was growing up, Tony Hadley was an outsider. He never quite
fitted in. By the age of thirteen he had set his heart on becoming a
singer. Instinctively he knew he would, one day, be a star. Ten years later,
as lead singer with Spandau Ballet, he had made it.
For Tony Hadley, the famé he had dreamed of was both massive and
immediate. At the height of the eighties New Romantic fever, Spandau
Ballet was one of the biggest bands in the world, and remains one of the
most memorable. Classic songs such as True', Through the Barricades'

For Tony Hadley, the famé he had dreamed of was both massive and

and 'Gold' earned Tony a legion of teenage fans and worldwide fame and
adulation. He appeared to have it all - on the surface, at least. But then
he lost it.
After ten years together, Spandau Ballet split. Witlj. former
band-mates John Keeble and Steve Norman, Tony launched a legal
battle against Gary Kemp over royalties - and lost. Professionally his
life was in disarray. Personally he was beset by tragedy. His father died.
His newborn son was ill. Yet, somehow, Tony emerged intact.
Tony's fanbase has remained loyal to him through the years, as evidenced
by his popularity on Reborn in the USA, the ITV1 series that took a group
of eighties pop stars on a tour of America to discover whether they could
still 'cut it' as professional entertainers. Tony proved to many that he
certainly hadn't lost his star quality and won the competition.
