The late Prof. Yu. A. Geller, Dr. Sc. (Eng.), a prominent speciálist in the field of metál science, was for over 20 years Head of the Chair of metál science and heat treatment of metals at the Moscow Institute of Machine Tools. For over 40 years he conducted vast teaching and research work in the field. His published works include around 280 articles and eight monographs and textbooks, among them the Science of Materials (written together with Prof. A. G. Rakhshtadt), which has recently been translated into English by-MIR Publishers. Many of his articles were published in the USA, Great Britairi, Francé, and other countries.
This is the most fundamental and comprehensive reference book on tool steels. This is the most fundamental and comprehensive reference book on tool steels. Since then, it has run through four new editions (1955, 1961, 1968 and 1975), each new edition being revised and renewed by the author to keep it abreast with the progress in the field. Recommended as a textbook for higher school students and a reference book for engineers.
