There are now ten books published in English and a growing number of editions in eighteen languages including Hebrew, Polish and Japanese. Moominvalley in November
Written and Illustrated by TOVE JANSSON
This is the first new Moomin book for five years and there are no Moomins in it. Yet their personalitiesj particularly that most endearing of all characters, Moomin-mamma, pervade and colour every page of this new instahnent of Tove Jansson's Moominvalley Saga.
It is autumn, the time when everybody in and aroimd Moominvalley prepares for the winter and the long sleep before spring comes again. But there are those who are unprepared for the loneliness and the dark months of cold weather.
Snufkin is the first to set oif for Moominvalley—to see if he can discover again the opening notes of a new tune that he had made up there during the summer. He is followed by little Toft who has been dreaming of visiting the Moomin's garden and seeing the roimd friendly nose of Moomirmiamma. Fillyjonk, after her terrifying experiences with autumn-cleaning, feels she must visit the Moomins. And Grandpa-Grumble, when he had remembered his name and what he wanted to do, put on his dressing gown and gaiters and set off to fish from the little bridge in Moominvalley.
They all arrive with high hopes of meeting the Moomins again, but the family is not there, so they dedde to settle down in the deserted house and wait for them to return . , .
