Tragicomedy, as the name implies, is a mixed drama utilizing both tragic and comic qualities. While it flourished little more than a hundred years in the theaters of Italy, France, and England, mainly during the second half of the sixteenth and the first half of the seventeenth centuries, the spirit of tragicomedy still lives.
