This textbook of eiectronic circuit design is for first-year undergraduates. It guides the student gently through the analysis and design of transistor circuits, using worked examples and design examples as illustration. A knowledge of elementary circuit theory is assumed, but a minimum of mathematics is used. Exercises are spread iiberally throughout each chapter to test the reader's grasp of the material, and problems given at the end of each chapter provide a useful and realistic assessment. The answers are provided at the end ofthe book. Extensive use has been made of margin notes to reinforce the main text; these highlight the most important features, give references for further reading, recall earlier material, summarise the approach and emphasise practical points. A brief description of semiconductors and device operation provides a basis for understanding diode and transistor behaviour, for which simple direct current and alternating current models are introduced at an early...
