This unique colour album published for the 200th anniversary of the National Széchényi Library is the fullest presentation to date of the library's most precious items. These are treasures rarely seen by the public because their storage and preservation require special care, but which we all need to know if we are to appreciate the often heard declaration that we were, are and will be the vehicles of culture. This applies not only to the Corvina manuscripts preserved with great care and which cannot be inspected in such detail even when they are exhibited, but also to the rare items in the manuscript collection, the Haydn and Mozart manuscripts in the music collection and the unmatched collection of posters and scenery designs in the theatre history collection.
