ABOUT THE BOOK
The present textbook consists of an introduction giving a brief review of internal combustion engines and their appro*imate classification, and three main parts devoted to the theory and design of motor vehicle engines.
Part One contains the theoretical fundamentals of engine cycles and analyses the factors affecting engine parameters in various operating conditions. Space is also devoted to the processes taking place in the fuel-feed systems of carburettor and diesel engines.
Part Two considers the kinematics and dynamics of the crank gear, and engine balancing.
Part Three deals with the design of engine parts and mechanisms, and also with their analysis for adequate strength. The book is designed for students of higher schools specializing in motor vehicle transport. It will also be a valuable guide for engineers and technicians occupied in the design and operation of motor vehicle engines.
