Vadim NEKRASOV (b. 1924), a history graduate of Moscow University, fought in battles near Leningrád in the Second World War. From 1953 he has been writing on international affairs. From 1956 to 1960 Pravda correspondent in London, from 1961 to 1976 a member of the Pravda editorial board and deputy editor-inchief for international affairs, he is now commentator for the journal Kommunist. Author of The Choice Before Britain (1962) and The Foreign Policy of Great Britain (1966), he is alsó co-author of a study of Soviet-American relations entitled A Time of Great Decisions (1973). This is a book about the historical roots of many problems alarming the world today. Outlining the course and outcome of the crucial Allied conferences held in Yalta and Potsdam during the Second World War, the author traces the direct beneficial influence the joint decisions taken there had on the whole subsequent course of international developments and establishes the direct connection between these...
