Compiled by Digital's own VAX engineers, this defínitive reference manual describes the architecture of a VAX processor as seen by a machine language programmer and as implemented consistently across the entire family of VAX systems—from the originál VAX 11/780 to the VAXstation 3100 and the VAX 9000.
This new Second Edition describes recently added features, such as VAX vector processing, expanded physical memory support, and the refined shared memory model supported in VAX multi-processor systems. Chapters cover the data types, instructions, addressing modes, registers, exceptions, interrupts, memory management, process structure, and programming practices common to all VAX systems.
Richárd A. Brunner is a Principal Engineer and current VAX Architect for Digital Equipment Corporation. He holds an M.S.E.E. in Computer Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
