Egyptologist Győző Vörös was born in Pécs, southern Hungary in 1972. He studied Egyptology at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, and theology at the Pázmány Péter R.C. Theological Faculty, between 1988 and 1993, and studied on scholarships to Romé and Jerusalem. He defended his M.A. in Egyptology in January 1994 with a thesis entitled "Jesus and Egypt", before Professors László Kákosy and Vilmos Wessetzky. Since February 1994 he has served as Permanent Representative of Hungárián Egyptology at the Hungárián Embassy in Cairo.
In June 1995, he received a per-sonal concession from the Supreme Council of Antiquities of the Egyptian Government for the excavation of Thoth Hill, the mountain rising to the north of the Valley of the Kings. For the next three years, an expedition from Eötvös Loránd University under his leadership uncovered a Middle Kingdom and an Archaic temple, excavated the Sed festival palace of Pharaoh Montuhotep Sankhkara, and found a rock-tomb where the Pharaoh...
