In the midst of public debate about the benefits and costs of
labour migration, the voices of migrant workers are infrequently
heard and even less often taken into account. This book contains
a collection of 14 in-depth interviews with women health workers
from different parts of the globe, who have migrated for work or
are considering doing so. It gives voice to the dilemmas facing
health workers and provides a much-needed complement to
our understanding of gender-based inequalities and the global
economics of health. It provides vital insights for policy makers,
governments, trade unionists and civil society at large, concerned
about the future of our global health system.
