The
Tempest
is a charming fantasy set on an enchanted isle containing spirits and "sounds, and sweet airs that give delight and hurt not." One of the last products of Shakespeare's pen, the play may contain his farewell to the theatre. The play's atmosphere is serene, and the magnanimity of Prospero provides a pleasing concept of benevolence, presented without verbal moralizing.
