THE author brings to bear on this important question the wide experience he has gained both as a business executive and as a director at the Ministry of Food. In addition to obtaining a first in Law and being the first Master of Commerce at London University he has considerable experience of social and economic investigation. In this book he seeks to reconcile the purposes of the State with the fullest practicable freedom for initiative and enterprise in industry. He suggests how this can best be achieved in industries which are to be nationalised? but deals more particularly with the relation between the State and priváté enterprise. He submits that our joint aims must be Social Justice with Freedom, Equity with Efficiency, based always on the need to put Enterprise First.
