THE COUNTRY WIFE William Wycherley
THE WAY OF THE WORLD William Congreve
VENICE PRESERVED Thomas Otway
THE BEAUX-STRATAGEM George Farquhar

Over the water Moliere had set all Paris laughing with his
polished comedies. Now England too was to laugh again and
Restoration comedy became its own unique and devil-may-care
self and lives for us today in its many revivals. Here then are
fine samples of Wycherley, Vanbrugh, Congreve and Etherege,
with plays of higher drama from Otway and Dryden. Vissza
