yvery experienced hunter knows how difficult it often is to properly identify a roe deer. How often has the pleasure one feels over the shooting of a buck become soured because, despite every care, one has made a mistake in identification. Such a disappointment may be avoided if one engages in timely and basic identification practice. Almost always the first question to be answered is young or old! Only when the age has been determined can the additional identification measures be applied.
However, only a very few hunters have time enough today to acquire in the Revier the sureness in identification one must have if mistakes in the shooting of roe deer are to be avoided. One may regret this fact but no one can change it. This was the reason which prompted the author to select, from a large number of roe deer photos, those which were best designed for use as instructional material.

Since the proper identification of roe deer females is just as important as identification of bucks a portion of the book is dedicated to this theme.
